Finished

I interrupt my regularly scheduled calling-for-help (ha!) to bring you this announcement…

After nearly three years of hard work, our book is finally in print!

Most of you are aware that I have been working on a book with several other LDS/Mormon women. Here’s a brief summary of what it is:

A spiritual look at pregnancy and birth through inspiring essays and birth stories from dozens of LDS women, women in the scriptures, words of the prophets and other spiritual texts; The Gift of Giving Life is the essential pregnancy companion for every LDS woman and any woman of faith who would like to discover the divinity and gift of giving life.

The book includes the words of many women, including several some bloggers you may know of… Courtney Kendrick (CJane), Cherylyn (Mamas and Babies), and Heather Farrell (Women in the Scriptures).

You can read more about the book here and order a copy here.

And, just in case you were wondering, neither my collaborators nor I will be making any money from the sales of this book, so I’m not promoting this to put dollars in my pocket. ;-) Just wanted to share the product of our long labor of love for our sisters.

I haven’t received my copy yet in the mail, but I hear that the pre-sales are arriving in mailboxes already. I’m not sure my nerves can handle seeing it right now! Breathe… breathe… breathe…

I love this quote from the book’s Foreword:

The diverse and profound perspectives of childbearing women are detailed in this remarkable book, The Gift of Giving Life. . . . As you read this book and reflect on its contents, you will never view giving birth as you did before. -Lynn Clark Callister, PhD, RN, FAAN

We will be having a Virtual Book Tour on a wide variety of blogs starting Mother’s Day and ending Father’s Day. Check out the book’s blog for updates on that. And if you’d be interested in hosting an interview with one of the authors or a guest post from one of the authors on your own blog, let us know.

I can’t believe it’s really finished.
